To say that Hondurans and Salvadorans didn’t like each other was an understatement. Salvadorans were expelled from Honduras by force. By 1962 Salvadorans were removed from their land regardless of how they had acquired it or their migration status, or if they were married to an Honduran or not. This organization placed pressure on the Honduran president to “protect their land”. Which was anti-working class and anti-Salvadoran. In turn this company helped form an organization known as the National Federation of Farmers and Livestock-Farmers of Honduras. The real problem was in fact how the United Fruit Company from the USA owned 10% of all the land in Honduras which made it impossible for the average farmer in the country to compete in the crops market. While tensions between Honduras and El Salvador had been escalating for years, basically from Salvadoran migrant farmers in Honduras being blamed by the Honduran government as scapegoats for the country’s economic problems, which resulted in Salvadorans being discriminated more and more as years passed by. The 100 Hour War has also another name which people know it by, the “Football War” (or Soccer War). The War started for a stupid reason but it was more complex than that.
